Ken + Kelsey

Our Story

This one is a doozie, so get ready for some long drawn out "breakdown" of how it all got started for us.

I guess we should back up not to even our childhoods, but more so my parents. (I'm sure you can see where this is going, it's a classic family friend situation, gone just right.) My Dad grew up on South Airport Rd. and if you know, you know. His best friend lived just up the street, Casey, whom just so happens to be Ken's older brother. (Yes, older by like 10 years!) Their friendship grew to be lifelong (obviously) and so meaningful to BOTH of my parents that Casey + his wife, Juli were deemed my God Parents before my birth.

Hopefully, this story is piecing together well in your head thus far.

Ken, like most little brothers I'm sure, was always around. (I'll tell his FULL story one day, who knows maybe a whole video on it too.) He grew up, did the college thing, and began moving all around the country for his aviation career and various jobs.

As for me, I was lagging behind a whopping 13 YEARS. ahah

I was born when Ken was about 12, there's even a picture of him holding me!!! (Maybe I'll share it sometime!)

Most of my growing up happened with him away and him making an occasional appearance at family/friend gatherings. As I got older I definitely crushed... like the way a girl swoons over actors in movies. I wasn't dumb, I knew he was older and hot enough to be married before I left high school. Thank goodness I was wrong!!!

I graduated and dated quite a few duds, I knew what I was looking for and nothing fit the bill. How do you find a grown man in a sea of man-children...? (Apparently. You age up. ahah)

God set up what I now know was a divine appointment. Somehow our totally different paths crossed at just the right moment. We were both single and at Ken's nephew's birthday party. (My God Bother.) I noticed him and overheard from his mom, he wasn't seeing anyone. I being my audacious self thought "why the hell not?" and went for it.

I can proudly say one of the boldest moves in my life became one of the best decisions I've ever made.

That's not to say that as it all fell into place we weren't mortified. I mean telling our families and risking the breakup of the decade. No thanks.

The Lord was heavily involved and it sure showed. As I sit here, typing out the shortest summary of our story, we've been together for over 3 years and married for more than a year.
