A Portfolio Update

Itching.

No, not from the tall grass or possible red-bugs in the woods. I had been itching to do a shoot among the pines and I knew Annabeth and her new beau were the perfect candidates. With her boho chic sense of style and design with his rough around the edges tattooed look, they were the ones I had to work with. So right before Christmas I took a leap of faith and shot her a message on Instagram to offer her a free session in exchange for using their images online.

Boy did this shoot turn out near perfect for what I was looking to capture. A clear crux of romance with a subtle sense of adventure. It has taken a great deal of time to develop my own personal creative style I have wanted to portray in my work. From looking through hundreds of posts on Pinterest to scrolling for hours on Instagram to find the photos that present the essence I'm looking to share.

One of my favorite ways to get my clients or friends comfortable in front of the camera is asking questions and snapping away the majority of the time. Towards the end of this session I asked Todd what his favorite feature on Annabeth's face was, he paused for a moment to examine her face and replied "her eyes." Which in its entirety created a beautiful moment for the two of them as well as deeper emotion for me to capture. I won't give away too much on my questioning and process just yet, I'd love to share a whole piece on that.

As I'm sure any photographer who's trying to make it in this media based time can understand, you can never be lacking content. So we do what we've gotta do, and loving what we do sure helps. I don't mind a few hours of quality time loving on people and being creative at the same time in order to fill my feed with my best and most recent work.
